MREs are perfect for your 72-hour kit or bug out bag because they don't require any cooking. Just open up the pouch and eat. The 1300 XT is always freshly packed with complete nutritional information printed on the back of each bag. It provides the nutrients & caloric value of a complete meal.

MRE's are completely precooked, self-contained foods (military meals) that require no refrigeration and can be eaten cold, although we think they taste better heated. The shelf life of MREs is based on storage temperature, but typically one can expect an average shelf life of 5 to 7 years for most products or longer if kept in cooler conditions.

An MRE package is one complete meal for an individual. When you first open up the package, open it up like a bag of chips and don't rip it up along the sides. You can use the bag for disposal purposes later. In your package, you can expect it to include a main entrée, a side dish, a dessert or a snack, bread or crackers, and a spread for it.
